The Heart in Detail

More detailed description of the anatomy of the normal heart. Blood enters the right side of the heart from the IVC and SVC, transits through the right atrium, and gets ejected out by the right ventricle.

Similarly, blood enters the left side of the heart from the pulmonary veins, transits through the left atrium, and gets ejected to the body by the left ventricle.

The tricuspid valve guards the right atrium, and the pulmonary valve guards the right ventricle, while the mitral valve guards the left atrium and the aortic valve guards the left ventricle.
